Why convert MOV to MP4?
MOV is Apple’s QuickTime container. It plays fine on Apple devices, but some Windows apps, Android phones, smart TVs, websites and upload forms only accept MP4. The two formats are close relatives, which is why the conversion can usually be lossless.
Seconds, not minutes: lossless rewrapping
MOV and MP4 both hold H.264 and HEVC (H.265) video with AAC audio. Asset Compressor copies those streams into the MP4 container unchanged – no re-encoding, no generation loss, and the same file size.

Is MOV to MP4 conversion lossless?
Yes, whenever the video is H.264 or HEVC – which covers almost every iPhone and QuickTime recording. The streams are copied, not re-encoded.
Why is my converted file the same size?
Because nothing was re-encoded. To make it smaller as well, choose a quality level such as Balanced, or use the video compressor.
Can I convert iPhone videos on my iPhone?
