PNG stores every pixel exactly, which makes it the best format for further editing in tools like Photoshop, Figma or GIMP. Output is optimized with OxiPNG so files are as small as a lossless PNG can be.

Expect PNG files to be larger than the WebP originals – that is the cost of lossless storage.

Editing WebP images in design tools

Does converting to PNG improve quality?

No. Detail lost when the WebP was created cannot be recovered, but PNG guarantees no further loss from here on.

Why is the PNG much larger?

PNG is lossless, while most WebP images are lossy. Storing every pixel exactly simply takes more space.

Can I shrink the PNG afterwards?

The output is already optimized losslessly with OxiPNG. For a smaller file, set a maximum width in the settings, or keep the image as WebP if the place you are using it accepts WebP.
